About Mountain Resource Center
Mountain Resource Center (MRC) is a registered 501(c)(3) community-based nonprofit founded in 1990 that serves a largely rural, 1,000+ square mile area west of Denver, including western Jefferson County and eastern Park County. MRC operates integrated programs — food access, emergency financial assistance, case management, veteran support, workforce services and an evidence-based preschool — to help residents meet immediate needs and build long-term stability.
In the most recent reporting years MRC has continued to expand direct services: its Food Share Market and Mobile Food Share have delivered hundreds of thousands of pounds of food to households in need, MRC has provided significant housing and utility assistance, and it launched/expanded early childhood programming to help fulfill local universal pre-K goals. MRC is legally registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 84-1178699).
Notable achievements
Large-scale food distribution
In recent reporting MRC’s Food Share Market and Mobile Food Share distributed several hundred thousand pounds of food to area households and substantially increased food access across its service area.
Expanded early childhood programming
Launched/expanded a high-quality half-day preschool program to support universal pre-K access in the mountain communities served by MRC.
Community Refrigerator project
Completed a community refrigerator shelter (celebrated with a ribbon cutting) to increase neighborhood food access and reduce waste through a community-built project.
