About Project Angel Heart
Project Angel Heart is a Denver-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that prepares and home-delivers medically tailored meals and provides nutrition counseling for people with life‑threatening and chronic illnesses across Colorado’s Front Range.
Operating for more than three decades, the organization combines chef-prepared, dietitian-planned meals with volunteer-powered packaging and delivery to help clients remain independent at home, improve adherence to medical plans, and reduce stress and health care costs.
In recent years Project Angel Heart has expanded its geographic footprint, strengthened clinical and payer partnerships, and set an organizational strategy to scale medically tailored meals and nutrition services through 2025 and into 2026.
Notable achievements
10 million meals milestone (2023)
In December 2023 Project Angel Heart celebrated preparing and delivering its 10,000,000th medically tailored meal since founding, marking a major organizational milestone in scale and longevity.
Fiscal 2024 scale and outcomes
In the most recent fiscal reporting period the organization prepared and delivered over three‑quarter million meals (reported as ~758,000) and served several thousand clients across the Front Range, while documenting improvements in client quality of life and reduced readmissions.
Strategic geographic & program expansion
Since 2023–2024 Project Angel Heart has expanded service into Northern Colorado with multi-year grant support (including a Kaiser Permanente grant) and launched partnerships and pilots—such as a diabetes-focused Food Is Medicine program administered with Anthem/FIMC—to evaluate clinical outcomes and grow access through 2026.
