About Castle Rock Historical Society
The Castle Rock Historical Society (CRHS) is a community-based nonprofit organization (organized in the early 1990s and operating with tax-exempt status) that preserves local history through the Castle Rock Museum, public programs, walking tours, and collections stewardship.
CRHS maintains the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad Depot as the Castle Rock Museum, develops rotating and permanent exhibits, offers monthly presentations and educational tours for schools and the public, and organizes community events that connect residents and visitors to Castle Rock’s built and cultural heritage.
Notable achievements
Restoration and operation of historic depot
Purchased, restored, and adapted the 1875 Denver & Rio Grande Railroad Depot to serve as the Castle Rock Museum, preserving a key local historic structure.
Established community museum
Built a volunteer-led museum with thousands of donated artifacts and a program calendar of exhibits, talks, and tours that serve the town year-round.
Sustained nonprofit status and local partnerships
