To preserve the history and heritage of United States Air Force missile and space systems while supporting, informing, and recognizing current and former missileers through education, archives, scholarships, and community events.
About Association of Air Force Missileers
The Association of Air Force Missileers (AAFM) is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit membership organization for personnel who have operated, maintained, defended, acquired, sustained, or supported U.S. Air Force missile and space systems. The membership includes active duty, retired, former, and civilian missile professionals representing every Air Force missile system and career field.
AAFM preserves missile history through an online missile museum and archival materials, provides scholarships and professional support for ICBM personnel, sponsors awards and recognition programs tied to Air Force Global Strike activities, and organizes national meetings and local reunions to keep the community connected.
Notable achievements
Museum grant support
Provided more than $300,000 in grants and material support to museums and missile preservation projects to help preserve missile artifacts and displays.
Established and awarded scholarships
Created multiple named scholarships (e.g., Col Trevor W. Flint Memorial, Col Charles G. Simpson Founders, CMSgt Dick Hoccheiser Memorial) and has awarded scholarships to active-duty missile personnel in recent years.
Sponsorship of Global Strike recognition
Sponsors annual Air Force Global Strike Command awards (Payne trophy for maintenance and Phillips trophy for operations), provides mementos for competitions, and supports enlisted recognition programs.
