About Gill Foundation
The Gill Foundation is a Denver-based philanthropic foundation founded in 1994 by Tim Gill that funds work to advance LGBTQ equality nationwide while also investing in the civic and civic-sector health of Colorado.
Since its founding the foundation has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in nonprofits, research, public education, litigation support, and field organizing to protect and expand civil rights for LGBTQ people.
In recent years the foundation has continued large-scale grantmaking and movement-building work, made targeted rapid-response investments in Colorado following the 2022 Club Q tragedy, partnered with the White House on Pride Month programming in 2024, and completed a leadership transition with Kate Kendell joining as CEO in May 2025.

Major movement investment
Since inception the foundation has invested hundreds of millions of dollars into organizations and campaigns that contributed to nationwide advances in LGBTQ equality.
Rapid crisis response
Provided immediate, targeted funding to support victims and community recovery following the 2022 Club Q tragedy in Colorado and contributed significant COVID-19 relief in Colorado during 2020–2021.
National visibility and partnerships
Partnered with national institutions and civic leaders—including a White House Pride partnership in 2024—to amplify Pride-month programming and visibility for LGBTQ families and youth.
