About Longmont Sister Cities Association (aka Longmont Sister City Corporation)
Longmont Sister Cities Association (EIN 84-1294179) is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit that facilitates cultural exchange, education and municipal cooperation between Longmont and its sister communities. The organization has maintained sister city relationships with Chino, Japan (since 1991) and Ciudad Guzmán, Mexico (since 1998), and formalized a historic sister-city relationship with the Northern Arapaho of the Wind River Reservation in 2021.
LSCA’s core work is organizing annual student exchange programs and hosting visiting delegations, while partnering with local institutions (city government, museums, schools) to present cultural events and community education. In recent years (2023–2025) the group has actively recruited student ambassadors and chaperones, resumed in-person exchanges and been publicly recognized by the City of Longmont for its role in promoting international understanding.
Notable achievements
Established long-standing Japan partnership
Helped establish and sustain a sister-city relationship with Chino, Japan (began in 1991) that has supported decades of exchanges and people-to-people ties.
Ciudad Guzmán partnership and cultural ties
Developed a lasting sister-city relationship with Ciudad Guzmán, Mexico (began in 1998) that is celebrated through public events and student exchanges.
Historic Northern Arapaho agreement (2021)
Coordinated and signed a first-of-its-kind sister-city relationship between Longmont and the Northern Arapaho (Wind River Reservation) in 2021, expanding the program’s scope to include a sovereign tribal nation.
