About The Vail Jazz Foundation, Inc.
The Vail Jazz Foundation is a Colorado-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to presenting jazz performances and year‑round music education, with a long-running Labor Day weekend festival and multi-tiered youth programs. Founded in the mid-1990s, the organization has focused on training promising young musicians while bringing jazz into local schools and the broader community.
In recent years the foundation has undergone leadership and operational changes following the passing of founder Howard Stone (2022); core education programming — notably the Vail Jazz Goes to School initiative — has continued while festival and some public programming were reassessed and adapted.
