The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver (MCA Denver) is a 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 84-1366092) and a non-collecting contemporary art museum in Denver that presents rotating exhibitions, commissions new work, and produces public programs that connect artists and audiences. The institution positions itself as a 21st-century museum that is both adventurous and accessible, presenting world-class exhibitions alongside experimental and community-driven events.
In the last few years MCA Denver has expanded its reach by opening MCA Denver at the Holiday Theater (a Northside hub) in 2022 and by presenting regionally and nationally significant projects — including a 2024–25 exhibition supported by federal arts funding and a 2025 presentation of selections from the international triennial Prospect.6 — demonstrating increased commissioning, touring partnerships, and community programming.
Notable achievements
Holiday Theater expansion
Opened MCA Denver at the Holiday Theater (Northside hub) in 2022, establishing a 400-seat venue for performances, film, and community programs and extending the museum’s neighborhood reach.
Prospect.6 presentation
Presented selections from the international triennial Prospect.6 in 2025 — the first time an excerpt of that triennial traveled beyond its originating city — bringing over sixty newly commissioned works to Denver.
Major exhibition commissioning and external support
Developed and presented nationally funded exhibitions in 2024–25 that included new commissions and performance projects, reflecting increased institutional capacity to support artist-led work.
