The Brain Injury Hope Foundation (BIHF) provides emergency financial assistance to individuals with Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (MTBI) and delivers education, awareness, and technical resources for survivors, families/caregivers, and professionals who serve them.
About THE BRAIN TRUST DBA BRAIN INJURY HOPE FOUNDATION
Founded in 1999 and operating in Colorado, the organization (formally known as The Brain Trust) is a Colorado nonprofit operating as a 501(c)(3) that focuses on practical financial support and education for people living with mild to moderate traumatic brain injuries (MTBI).
BIHF maintains Emergency Financial Funds to help survivors cover living expenses during recovery and runs the Survivor Series — a grant-supported training/lunch-and-learn program for survivors, caregivers and professionals.
In recent years the foundation has continued regular Survivor Series sessions and published timely blog posts and educational materials (including recorded sessions and handouts); it reports having provided emergency assistance to hundreds of MTBI survivors in Colorado.
Notable achievements
Established emergency funding program
Since its founding, BIHF has maintained Emergency Financial Funds that have assisted hundreds of MTBI survivors in Colorado with living expenses during recovery.
Launched Survivor Series
Developed the Survivor Series training program (grant-supported) to deliver regular educational lunch-and-learn sessions connecting survivors, caregivers and professionals.
Produced enduring educational materials
Board members and founders have authored and promoted key resources (including books and downloadable handouts) used by survivors and professionals to understand and manage MTBI.
