About JEFFCO OPEN SPACE FOUNDATION
Jeffco Open Space Foundation is the independent charitable partner to Jefferson County Open Space; it raises funds and makes grants to support land and trail protection, visitor stewardship, outdoor education, and expanded access for people of all abilities.
Formally organized to extend the reach and mission of Jeffco Open Space, the foundation has historically supported land acquisitions and park improvements and in recent years has prioritized accessibility, adaptive recreation, volunteer programs, and targeted grants to expand participation.
In the last 2–3 years the foundation has supported adaptive recreation (equipment, training and outreach), sponsored county public-lands events, and continued grantmaking and trail/land preservation partnerships.
Notable achievements
Support for land acquisitions
Provided partial funding and support for well-known Jeffco open-space parks and improvements, including Hildebrand Ranch Park, South Table Mountain, Alderfer/Three Sisters, and Elk Meadow.
Shift Events grant for RAD (2024)
Through a 2024 Shift Events grant plus matching funds, the foundation supplied approximately $10,000 in equipment and program support for the Recreation Adventures for People Experiencing Disabilities (RAD) initiative, including an adaptive-bike trailer, safety/maintenance gear, trainings, and clinic events.
Ongoing partnerships & public events
Acts as a presenting sponsor and partner for county public-lands events and volunteer days, helping convene volunteers and fund event programming that supports stewardship and community engagement.
