About DOUGLAS COUNTY SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM, INC.
Douglas County Search and Rescue Team, Inc. (DCSAR) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) mountain and wilderness search-and-rescue organization that operates under the authority of the Douglas County (Colorado) Sheriff’s Office. The team provides wilderness and urban search, technical rescue, K9, UAV, and community safety education to residents of Douglas County and nearby jurisdictions.
DCSAR maintains certified Mountain Rescue Association capabilities, responds on mutual-aid requests across Colorado, runs a structured volunteer academy and recurring training calendar, and sustains operations through community donations and grants. Recent activity includes hosting a regional SAR UAS (drone) conference in 2025 and continued high mission tempo and community training initiatives.

Mountain Rescue Association certification
DCSAR is organized and certified to Mountain Rescue Association standards (Type I capabilities), reflecting proficiency for sustained, high-altitude and technical rescue operations.
Hosted Rocky Mountain SAR UAS Conference (2025)
In May 2025 DCSAR partnered with state agencies to host a regional SAR UAS conference that convened UAS/SAR professionals from across Colorado to share best practices and expand drone integration in searches.
