About Golden History Museum & Park (Golden History Museums / Friends of GHM)
Golden History Museum & Park (operating as Golden History Museums and supported by Friends of GHM) is a community-focused local history institution in Golden, Colorado that preserves, interprets, and programs the city’s historical collections and three historic sites.
The organization stewards the City of Golden’s collection of 15,000+ historic objects and offers free public admission, rotating and long-term exhibits, outdoor historic structures at History Park, and a broad education program for schools and families.
In recent years GHM&P has advanced an Indigenous Connections initiative to increase Native representation in exhibits and programming and has opened new gallery and program spaces (Clear Creek Room) and co-curated major exhibitions with Native advisors (2024–2025).
Notable achievements
Longstanding community stewardship
Founded from community collecting efforts dating to 1938, the organization now stewards the City of Golden’s collection of 15,000+ historic objects and operates multiple public history sites.
Indigenous Connections initiative
Launched an institution-wide Indigenous Connections Project and co-curated Native-partnered exhibitions (notably projects and exhibits in 2023–2025) to increase Native representation and collaboration.
New gallery & program space (Clear Creek Room, 2024)
Opened the Clear Creek Room as a remodeled exhibition and meeting space (2024) to interpret the cultural, natural, and industrial history of Clear Creek and expand public programming capacity.
