About NorthWest Colorado Center for Independence

NWCCI is a certified Center for Independent Living serving Grand, Moffat, Rio Blanco, Routt and Summit counties in northwest Colorado. The organization provides participant-driven independent living services that emphasize skills training, peer support, advocacy and connections to housing, transportation and benefits.

In recent years NWCCI has continued to expand transportation and transition services, maintain an active peer-support program (including youth programming), and operate federally- and state-funded independent living programs; reported operating revenues in the most-recent public filing were approximately $1.24 million (2023).

Notable achievements

Annual Life Skills Camp

Operated a multi-day Life Skills Camp (overnight) for youth (approximately ages 16–26) focused on team-building, independent-living skills and recreation.

Expanded transportation services

Expanded accessible transportation to include social and recreational rides and provided hundreds of transportation services during the most recent reporting year (transportation services reported in program data).

Benefits assistance partnership & home mods

Participated in a multi-agency benefits-assistance project and completed permanent home modifications (including ramps and bathroom accessibility) through the home-mod program.
