About Cultivando
Cultivando is a Colorado-based nonprofit led by Latina and Indigenous women that builds community leadership and advances health equity for frontline Latino communities in Commerce City, Globeville, Elyria-Swansea, and surrounding areas.
The organization operates a Promotora (community health promoter) model, environmental justice and air-quality monitoring initiatives, early childhood supports, and culturally responsive emotional-wellness programming.
Cultivando is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization (ruling year 1999) with two decades of community organizing, recent multi-year environmental justice campaigns, and recurring community events and trainings (notably EcoFiesta in July 2023 and July 2024).
Notable achievements
Annual EcoFiesta
A recurring community celebration and outreach event (notably held July 20, 2024) that convenes residents, partner groups, health resources, and local artists to promote environmental justice and public health.
Community Air Monitoring Campaigns
Established community-led air quality monitoring and used the data for public education and policy advocacy, increasing local and regional attention on industrial pollution impacts.
Promotora Network Expansion
Built a sustained Promotora program that has trained community leaders to deliver health education, engage in media and public testimony, and influence local policymaking.
