Great Plains Restoration Council
Great Plains Restoration Council (GPRC) is a 501(c)(3) Ecological Health nonprofit that restores and protects native prairies, plains, and waters while using nature-based work, paid green jobs, and therapeutic restoration to support the health and resilience of people and ecosystems.
About Great Plains Restoration Council
GPRC combines restoration ecology with social work through its Ecological Health model — defined as the interdependent health of people, animals and ecosystems — and operates restoration sites and programs across the Great Plains and selected coastal and urban locations.
Founded around 1999–2000 and based in Texas, the organization runs multi-year prairie restoration and land-protection campaigns (notably the Fort Worth Prairie Park) while delivering paid outdoor restoration jobs and nature-based therapy programs for youth and young adults, especially those facing social or justice-system challenges.
In the last 2–3 years GPRC has advanced landscape-scale planning (Southern Great Plains Conservation & Recreation Area), secured grants to expand field operations, and continued seasonal youth restoration crews and public education about prairie conservation.

Founder of the Ecological Health model
Developed and promotes the Ecological Health framework that integrates ecosystem restoration with human health and social recovery.
Major grant support for regional project (2024)
Secured significant foundation grants to launch and advance the Southern Great Plains Conservation & Recreation Area planning and related conservation work in the Texas Panhandle.
Long-term Fort Worth Prairie Park conservation
Sustained a multi-year campaign to protect and restore a remnant prairie in Fort Worth while deploying seasonal crews and community outreach to maintain the site.
