About Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network

RMIAN (EIN 84-1565542) is a registered 501(c)(3) organization that delivers direct legal representation, social work supports, and community education to detained immigrants and vulnerable children across Colorado.

The organization operates a daily presence at the immigration detention facility in Aurora and runs statewide children’s legal services, a Social Service Project for especially vulnerable clients, an anti-human trafficking project, a robust pro bono program, and public advocacy and education initiatives.

In recent years RMIAN has expanded its litigation and advocacy work while continuing to train volunteer attorneys, provide Know-Your-Rights outreach, and secure life-changing immigration outcomes for clients.

Notable achievements

Direct representation and case outcomes (2024)

In 2024 RMIAN attorneys directly represented dozens of detained clients (including 141 individuals in detention) and secured outcomes such as asylum, SIJS-based lawful permanent residency, and releases from detention for many clients.

High-volume legal education and intakes

RMIAN provided thousands of Know-Your-Rights presentations and conducted hundreds of individual legal intakes and consultations in recent years, reaching large numbers of unrepresented individuals in detention and community members across Colorado.

Expanded specialized services

Growth of the Social Service Project and Anti-Human Trafficking Project has increased holistic, trauma-informed supports (psycho-social assessments, case management, forensic referrals) for especially vulnerable detained adults and immigrant youth.
