About Grupo Folklórico del Pueblo
Grupo Folklórico del Pueblo (GFDP) is a Pueblo, Colorado–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit folk-dance company and school of folk arts that offers classes, community performances, and cultural education for all ages.
GFDP combines dance, music, art, history and language in its curriculum and presents year‑round public performances and community workshops; in recent years the organization has hosted its annual Dance Exchange conference (June 2025), produced its long-running Dia de los Muertos theatrical shows (November 2025), and maintained regular folklórico and mariachi class offerings.
GFDP focuses on cultural preservation and youth development through low-cost classes, scholarship/support for costumes and instruments, community outreach performances, and partnerships with local schools and cultural institutions.
Notable achievements
2025 Dance Exchange host
Organized and hosted a multi-day Dance Exchange conference in June 2025 featuring classes, an artistic challenge, and a public showcase at the Sangre de Cristo Art Center.
International performances and tours
Historic touring and exchange experience with performances and study appearances in Mexico and several European countries, reflecting the group's longstanding international engagement.
Long-running Dia de los Muertos productions
Established, large-scale Day of the Dead performances (over a decade of annual shows) that provide students with theatrical production experience and cultural education.
