CHACRUNA INSTITUTE FOR PSYCHEDELIC PLANT MEDICINES

The Chacruna Institute for Psychedelic Plant Medicines is a San Francisco–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that produces research, public education, conferences, courses, and community programs focused on psychedelic plant medicines, cultural traditions, and psychedelic justice. Chacruna’s public-facing work emphasizes reciprocity, Indigenous rights, biocultural conservation, and inclusive dialogues between Indigenous knowledge-holders and scientific/clinical communities. In recent years Chacruna has expanded its Indigenous Reciprocity Initiative (IRI) to channel direct funding and support to grassroots Indigenous organizations across the Americas, published extensive multilingual content, hosted recurring conferences and virtual forums, and offered training programs aimed at ethical engagement, decolonial approaches, and harm reduction in the growing psychedelic ecosystem.
