CRESTED BUTTE STATE OF MIND
Connecting our community to resources, education, and free counseling scholarships to improve mental wellness, eliminate stigma and lower the rate of suicide in the Gunnison Valley.
About CRESTED BUTTE STATE OF MIND
Crested Butte State of Mind (CB State of Mind) is a community-driven mental wellness connector serving Crested Butte and the broader Gunnison Valley. The organization focuses on increasing access to care, reducing stigma, and coordinating local resources so residents who are uninsured or underinsured can get timely mental health support.
Founded out of local community planning after a suicide crisis, CB State of Mind operates a therapy scholarship program, a referral hub linking people to local and telehealth providers, and public-facing stigma-reduction campaigns and community events.
Notable achievements
Large-scale therapy access
Since launching its scholarship program, CB State of Mind has connected thousands of counseling sessions through a growing network of local therapists and telehealth partners, substantially increasing access for uninsured and underinsured residents.
Expanded provider partnerships
Grew its network of contracted therapists and telehealth providers (dozens of clinicians), enabling faster matches and broader specialty coverage for valley residents.
Community-driven stigma campaigns
Rolled out visible public campaigns and local activations (including the Green Light campaign and Mental Health Matters bus/livery projects) that elevated conversations about mental health across the valley.
