About A GLIMPSE OF AFRICA

A Glimpse of Africa is a Grand Rapids-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that presents cultural programming and community services for African immigrants and refugees. The organization centers an annual multi-day A Glimpse of Africa festival and runs year-round programs focused on cultural celebration, civic engagement, mental health and socioeconomic empowerment. Founded as a tax-exempt organization in 2021, A Glimpse of Africa has expanded its staffing and programming in recent years to deliver community workshops, vendor and small-business support, advocacy, and fundraising events (including an annual gala) across West Michigan.

Annual A Glimpse of Africa Festival (expanded to multi-day)

Operates a signature multi-day cultural festival that showcases African food, music, dance, fashion, art and small businesses and has grown into a major West Michigan cultural event, including moves to prominent downtown venues and expansion of programming and vendor marketplaces.
