Colorado Railroad Historical Foundation, doing business as the Colorado Railroad Museum (Golden, CO), is a long-established 501(c)(3) nonprofit formed in 1964 to own and operate the Colorado Railroad Museum. The Foundation preserves and interprets Rocky Mountain railroading through a 15-acre outdoor railyard, indoor galleries, a research library, and active public programs. In 2026 the Museum opened the Creating Colorado by Rail: 150+ Years of Mining, Agriculture, and Tourism exhibit (part of Colorado’s 150th anniversary programming) and continues a calendar of family-focused events (Day Out With Thomas™, Polar Express™ rides, Colorado Rail Heritage Week and educational school programs).
