About Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory
The Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory (RMBL) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) field station founded in 1928 and based in Gothic/Crested Butte, Colorado. RMBL provides year-round support for ecological research, long-term monitoring, and place-based scientific training in subalpine and alpine environments.
RMBL operates lodging and laboratory facilities in Gothic, manages extensive long-term datasets and a public data catalog, runs undergraduate and K–12 educational programs (including NSF-supported student research opportunities), and offers seasonal public programming such as guided wildflower tours and seminar series.

Nearly century-long datasets
Host to some of the longest continuous ecological datasets in the western United States, providing critical records for phenology, climate, and community dynamics dating back many decades.
Influential ecological studies
