About Marigold Project Inc
Marigold Project Inc is a San Francisco–based nonprofit arts organization that produces the free Day of the Dead Festival of Altars and a year-round program of participatory workshops, cultural education and community altar-building. The organization centers indigenous Mesoamerican traditions, collaborative public art, and grief/healing practices to preserve cultural knowledge and support immigrant and BIPOC communities. In addition to the signature Festival of Altars, Marigold Project runs workshops, school partnerships and community-led ceremonies that bring artists, poets, dancers and students together to learn altar-building, storytelling and culturally grounded arts practices. In the last 2–3 years the organization has actively fundraised for Festival programming, maintained public workshops and received local arts funding to support its programs.
