About HAWAII WORKFORCE PIPELINE INC

Hawaii Workforce Pipeline (HWP) is a Kailua-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that serves as a work-based learning intermediary for K–12 students, primarily in the Windward and Honolulu school districts. It brokers partnerships between schools and local employers to deliver career fairs, classroom engagements, guest speakers, mock interviews, internships, apprenticeships, and professional development for educators. Since formalizing as a nonprofit intermediary in 2020, HWP has scaled rapidly: in the 2024–25 school year it documented substantial program activity (including thousands of students, dozens of industry mentors, and hundreds of internship opportunities) and has secured multi-year grant funding and state partnerships to expand its services. HWP files annual Form 990s and is registered as a charitable organization with the State of Hawaii under FEIN 85-1664697.

Notable achievements

SY 2024–25 Program Scale

Delivered intermediary-supported work-based learning in the 2024–25 school year: reported support for over 10,000 students/educators/staff across Windward programming, brokered 222 internship opportunities with 136 businesses, and ran dozens of internships, trainings, and apprenticeships (including targeted placements for SPED and at-risk students).

American Student Assistance Grant (2025)

Selected as a national grantee in 2025 and awarded a multi-year grant to expand career-connected learning (career fairs, classroom engagements, industry mentorship, and internships) for the Windward School District.

State & WIOA Collaboration

Worked with Hawaii P-20 and partners to implement WIOA-funded work-based learning intermediary activities and presented intermediary results and strategy to the Hawaii Workforce Development Council in 2025.
