About Kafika House Inc (dba Friends of Kafika House)

Kafika House Inc (doing business as Friends of Kafika House) is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) fundraising and support organization that advances the work of Kafika House, a Tanzanian NGO delivering surgical care, residential rehabilitation, therapy, education and family support for children with surgically treatable disabilities. Program scale and impact (2023)

In 2023 Kafika House assessed 914 children and provided treatment (surgical and non-surgical rehabilitation) to 407 children, with a treatment plan initiated for an additional 66 children; the program delivered services across multiple conditions including cleft lip/palate, skeletal fluorosis, burn scar contractures and clubfoot.

Geographic expansion — new centres

Kafika House opened a new rehabilitation location in Karatu in 2023 and completed setup activities toward a Moshi site (planned opening January 2024), reducing travel burdens for families and increasing local surgical access through regional hospital partnerships.

Capital & site development — Likamba project

The organization purchased 12 acres at Likamba, Arusha and completed Phase 1 site preparation (boundaries, infrastructure, planting) as the long-term site for a paediatric surgical centre and expanded residential rehabilitation services to support scale-up.
