About Earth Charter Associates Ltd

Earth Charter Associates Ltd (ECA) is the U.S.-based charitable organization that supports the Earth Charter global movement and the work of Earth Charter International. The organization advances the Earth Charter’s sixteen principles through education, networking, and advocacy to promote sustainability, ethics, and planetary citizenship. In recent years ECA has supported online and classroom education (including Masterclasses introduced in 2022), managed trademark and stewardship responsibilities for the Earth Charter materials, and coordinated partnerships with international partners such as the Earth Charter Education Center and the University for Peace to scale educational programming and resources.

ECA received U.S. tax-exempt status (recognized as a 501(c)(3)) and began regular Form 990 filings; the organization reported rising contributions and net assets through 2021–2023 as it expanded fundraising and program support.

Program expansion — Masterclasses & EC Index

Since 2022 ECA and Earth Charter International expanded formal educational offerings (introducing a series of Masterclasses) and launched the EC Index project to develop new tools and curricula that translate the Earth Charter principles into measurable learning and policy outcomes.

In March 2022 ECA/ECI announced the appointment of an experienced board chair to strengthen governance and strategic outreach, supporting a period of increased visibility and partnership development.
