About COMMONSPIRIT HEALTH FOUNDATION

CommonSpirit Health Foundation is the national philanthropic arm of CommonSpirit Health, formed after the 2019 combination of Catholic Health Initiatives and Dignity Health. The foundation raises and directs charitable resources across a nationwide network of local foundations and fundraising entities to advance health equity, community-based care, and programs addressing the social determinants of health. The foundation funds systemwide initiatives — including behavioral and mental health, violence prevention and human trafficking response, the Lloyd H. Dean Institute for Humankindness & Health Justice, and the More in Common Alliance — and partners with donors, local philanthropy affiliates and community organizations to expand access and reduce disparities across CommonSpirit’s multi-state footprint.

Notable achievements

Record fundraising in 2025

CommonSpirit Health Philanthropy reported $316 million in fundraising revenue for the 2024–2025 year, marking consecutive record totals and contributing to more than $1.5 billion raised over the prior five years across the ministry.

Launch of the Lloyd H. Dean Institute

The foundation helped establish the Lloyd H. Dean Institute for Humankindness & Health Justice (launched in 2022) to advance research, training and programs that leverage humankindness to address health disparities and the social causes of poor health.

More in Common Alliance partnership

The foundation supports the More in Common Alliance, a multi-year partnership with Morehouse School of Medicine and other partners to expand medical education, diversify the clinician workforce and address structural drivers of health inequity.
