Friends of the Majestic
The Majestic Theatre entertains, educates, and inspires the Gunnison Valley through affordable and accessible new movies, local films, community events and collaborations.
About Friends of the Majestic
Friends of the Majestic was formed in late 2020 to preserve and operate the Majestic Theatre in Crested Butte, Colorado after the for-profit cinema closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization incorporated on October 28, 2020 and transitioned the Majestic into a nonprofit community cinema.
The Majestic reopened to the public in late September 2022 and now operates as a nonprofit venue offering new-release films, independent and local films, curated series, and community-driven events that prioritize affordable, accessible programming for the Gunnison Valley.
Since reopening the venue the organization has combined ticketed programming, community festivals, donor support, and grants to sustain operations; recent fiscal reporting shows the organization scaled program activity and reported annual revenues and expenses in the high hundreds of thousands of dollars.
