MAKE LEMONADE PROJECT

Make Lemonade Project is a Hawaiʻi‑based 501(c)(3) foundation that provides direct financial assistance and comfort items to local cancer patients. Its primary programs are Lemon‑AID Grants (needs‑based financial awards reviewed by oncology social workers) and Free Lemonade Stands (on‑site gift stands at cancer centers stocked by donors and partners). The organization was co‑founded by Kelsey Nishi Darling in memory of her husband Michael Darling and directs grant decisions in partnership with hospital social work teams across the islands. The board includes local business and nonprofit leaders and the organization maintains an active e‑commerce shop and donor programs to fund its work. In the last 2–3 years Make Lemonade Project has expanded its grantmaking and hospital partnerships across Oʻahu, Maui and Kauaʻi, supporting dozens of patients and operating multiple Free Lemonade Stands at major Hawaiʻi cancer centers.
