CataCap

CataCap is a San Francisco–based public charity (501(c)(3)) that operates a platform bridging philanthropy and impact investing by pooling donor contributions into catalytic investments. Donors make tax-deductible gifts (including via DAFs and foundations) that are invested into mission-aligned ventures; any financial returns are credited back to donors' CataCap accounts for reinvestment or grantmaking. The organization was granted tax-exempt status in 2022 and has run community-advised funding vehicles (for example the Butterfly Effect Fund) and provided fiscal sponsorship for initiatives such as Salmon Returns, enabling community-led and Indigenous-aligned environmental work. CataCap markets lower barriers to entry for donors to participate in impact investing and emphasizes collective, repeatable capital cycles that aim to regenerate philanthropic resources. In recent years CataCap has demonstrated operational scale through active program launches, fiscal sponsorship activity, and transaction volume reported in their filings and public platform pages, while continuing to develop donor groups, investment offerings, and partnerships to expand access to catalytic capital.
