HOUSING STABILITY ALLIANCE
To increase access to affordable housing and decrease homelessness for families, children, and youth in Kent County, with an intentional focus on eliminating racial and ethnic disparities through collective action, systems change, and shared measurement.
About HOUSING STABILITY ALLIANCE
Housing Stability Alliance is a collective-impact, donor-facing nonprofit based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, that was formalized as a 501(c)(3) organization in late 2021. The organization serves as the backbone for a broad network of public, private, philanthropic and community partners (operating publicly as Housing Kent) that coordinate strategies, shared measurement, and policies to improve housing stability across Kent County.
The Alliance focuses on systems-level change: developing a common agenda and roadmap for housing stability, advancing equity and lived-experience engagement, and driving high-leverage activities such as eviction prevention and data-informed policy. In recent years the organization has produced county-wide research and reports (including a State of Housing report), led an eviction-prevention action plan, and secured multi-source foundation and community funding to support coordinated housing stability work.
As a small but active nonprofit backbone, recent tax filings (fiscal year ending Sept. 2024) show annual contributions-driven revenue (approximately $814k), a compact staff and leadership team, and operating partnerships with major local funders and municipal partners to implement shared initiatives across service providers and systems.
