About CHRISTOPHES CHILDREN INC

Christophes Children Inc (doing business as Christophe’s Children) is a Grand Rapids, Michigan–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports orphaned and vulnerable children in Kalehe, Democratic Republic of Congo. The organization was founded out of Christophe Muganza’s return to his hometown and works with local leaders in Kalehe to provide shelter, food, healthcare, education and family-style care. In recent years the organization has moved from emergency relief to a sustained care model: it completed construction of a permanent home on donated family land in mid-2022 and expanded its residential program from an initial 27 children to a family of 56 children. Christophe’s Children maintains an active sponsorship program and public tax filings, and it continues on-the-ground programs and volunteer trips (including documented visits and projects in 2023–2024).

Broke ground in early 2022 and completed a permanent residential home on donated family land in Kalehe in July 2022, enabling the move of the original 27 children into safe, stable housing.

Between July and August 2022 the organization expanded intake, bringing an additional 29 of the most vulnerable orphaned children off the streets; the program now provides holistic care, schooling, and healthcare for 56 children.
