About DIASPORIC VIETNAMESE ARTISTS NETWORK

The Diasporic Vietnamese Artists Network (DVAN) is a San Francisco–based nonprofit that promotes Vietnamese diasporic cultural production through public programs, publications, residencies, exhibitions, and community-driven projects. It serves writers, visual artists, filmmakers, and performers by creating platforms for creation, presentation, and cross-cultural dialogue. Since formalizing as an independent 501(c)(3) in 2022, DVAN has expanded its programmatic partnerships (including a campus partnership with San Francisco State University and incubator affiliation with Intersection for the Arts) and has received state and local arts support to produce touring exhibitions, readings, and artist residencies in recent years.

Notable achievements

Formal nonprofit recognition (2022)

DVAN established itself as an independent 501(c)(3) organization in 2022, enabling tax-deductible giving and larger-scale fundraising to support expanded programs and operations.

State- and locally‑funded touring exhibition and programs

In the 2023–2025 period DVAN secured project support from state and local arts funders to develop and tour an arts-driven exhibition reflecting on April 30, 1975, and to produce associated public events, readings, and residencies featuring contemporary Vietnamese diasporic artists.

Institutional partnerships and educational initiatives

DVAN formalized partnerships such as DVAN@SFSU and participation in Intersection for the Arts’ incubator, creating internships, curricular collaborations, residencies, and sustained career pathways for Vietnamese diasporic artists and students.
