About CHANGE STARTS WITH COMMUNITY

Change Starts With Community is a community-led violence intervention and prevention nonprofit based in North Minneapolis that combines a health-focused food shelf with trauma-informed victim services, youth jobs and mentorship, and recovery supports. The organization operates the Shiloh Cares Northside Food Shelf and delivers child nutrition, job-readiness, and community trauma response programming aimed at reducing retaliation, re-injury, re-traumatization, and recidivism. Since its 501(c)(3) recognition in 2021, the organization has partnered with local government and philanthropic partners to expand services, secure grant funding, and win municipal contracts for community trauma response and violence prevention. Programming focuses on at-risk youth (ages 10–17), adults impacted by violence (ages 18–45), survivors of violence, and North Minneapolis residents experiencing food insecurity and related economic instability.

Named as partner for the Shiloh Cares Northside Food Access Renovation Project with a county agreement not-to-exceed $600,000 to support a roughly $1.75M renovation (supplemented by State of Minnesota and Cargill funding) to expand the food shelf footprint and capacity.
