About TRANSFORM 1012 N MAIN STREET

Transform 1012 N. Main Street is a Texas-based 501(c)(3) coalition that acquired the former Ku Klux Klan Klavern No. 101 auditorium in North Fort Worth with the goal of converting the site into The Fred Rouse Center for Arts and Community Healing. The organization brings together local arts groups, grassroots organizations, service providers, designers, and youth to center storytelling, reparative justice, and community-led design in the building’s adaptive reuse. In the last 2–3 years Transform 1012 has moved from acquisition into design and community programming: it secured public and private grant support for design work, ran a community-centered design competition and Design Week events in 2023, convened a 1012 Youth Council to center youth voices, and continues fundraising and planning toward community healing programming and interim public engagement.

Notable achievements

Acquisition of the former KKK auditorium

Transform 1012 successfully acquired the historic 1012 N. Main Street building (the former Ku Klux Klan Klavern No. 101 auditorium), a critical milestone enabling the adaptive reuse project and long-term community stewardship.

National Endowment for the Arts Our Town grant

Awarded an NEA Our Town grant to support design and community engagement work for the conversion of the building into The Fred Rouse Center for Arts and Community Healing (grant activity and period centered on 2023–2024).

Design / architecture selection and community Design Week

Ran a community-centered design competition and hosted Design Week events (October 2023) that advanced the selection of a design team and deepened public participation in the project's planning.
