About Housing Hawai‘i's Future
Housing Hawai‘i's Future is a Honolulu-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organized to address Hawai‘i’s workforce housing shortage by educating residents, developing young leaders, convening stakeholders, and producing research-driven policy recommendations. The organization focuses on public outreach, leadership development, convenings that bring public/private/nonprofit actors together, and timely research to inform policymakers and community conversations.
Since its founding (tax-exempt status established in 2022), Housing Hawai‘i's Future has run statewide programs and research projects that engage students, young professionals, and policy fellows. The group publishes policy briefs and legislative reports, runs an annual youth housing convening, and operates public-facing research initiatives such as a multi-year Hawai‘i housing survey to surface resident priorities and policy support.
Recent activity (2024–2026) includes large-scale resident surveys and interactive dashboards, quarterly legislative tracking and policy brief publications, statewide convenings, and programmatic growth supported by philanthropic grants. The organization positions itself as an amplifying voice for solutions that increase housing supply and prioritize local residents staying in Hawai‘i.
Notable achievements
Statewide Housing Surveys (2025–2026)

Leadership & Policy Fellowship Programs
Established fellowship and leadership programs that train students and young professionals in housing policy and civic engagement, and that have produced policy research briefs and a cohort of policy fellows contributing to public discussion and advocacy.
Policy Engagement & Research Publications
Published quarterly legislative reports and policy briefs used to track and explain housing legislation; actively convened stakeholder forums and public events (including an annual youth housing convening) to advance practical policy solutions during recent legislative sessions.
