About Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Society of Critical Care Medicine

The Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (RMSCCM) is a regional chapter of SCCM that brings together physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, dietitians, pre-hospital providers, trainees and students to advance critical care practice and education in the Rocky Mountain region.

Founded in 2020, the chapter focuses on continuing education, multidisciplinary collaboration, research translation, mentorship and local professional networking; it operates as a member chapter of the national Society of Critical Care Medicine and uses SCCM membership infrastructure for chapter enrollment.

In the last 2–3 years the chapter has worked to formalize executive leadership and committee roles, launched member surveys and outreach, and prioritized development of local CME/education programming and regional engagement between academic centers and community/rural critical care providers.

Notable achievements

Chapter establishment (2020)

Successfully founded and incorporated a Rocky Mountain chapter of SCCM to fill a regional gap in multidisciplinary critical care engagement and to provide a local forum for collaboration following COVID-era needs.

Multidisciplinary leadership formation

Built an active executive board and committees composed of pharmacists, physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers and academic leaders from major regional centers to direct education and membership efforts.

Member outreach and program development

Initiated formal membership enrollment pathways through SCCM, launched member surveys to guide programming priorities, and set goals to develop local CME events and a regional critical care conference.
