About UPTOWN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER INC

Uptown Community Health Center is a Denver-based nonprofit community health clinic that provides comprehensive primary care, internal medicine, women’s health (including a midwifery center), behavioral health, and supportive services to patients of all ages. The center was formed to preserve an established tradition of teaching and compassionate care and to operate as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Look-Alike serving people regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. Since becoming an independent nonprofit in January 2022, Uptown has continued to train medical residents alongside experienced physicians, expanded integrated services under one roof, and maintains a focus on equitable access for underserved and vulnerable members of the community.

Notable achievements

Consolidation of legacy clinics (2022)

On January 12, 2022, three longstanding clinic programs (Bruner Family Medicine, Caritas Internal Medicine, and Seton Women’s Center) were combined to form Uptown Community Health Center, creating an integrated single-site clinic with multiple specialized care teams.

FQHC Look‑Alike conversion and 501(c)(3) status

Transitioned to an independent nonprofit and operates as an FQHC Look‑Alike, enabling a sliding fee scale, broad payer acceptance (including Medicaid and Medicare), and a stronger focus on serving uninsured and underinsured patients.

Expansion of midwifery and integrated care

Opened an on-site Uptown Midwifery Center and expanded behavioral health integration and resident training programs to strengthen perinatal and whole-person care at the clinic.
