Mission

Up Ending Parkinsons is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides guided rock climbing, education, and community-based programs to improve quality of life for people living with Parkinson’s disease.

About UP ENDING PARKINSON'S

Up Ending Parkinsons organizes guided rock-climbing sessions, instructor training, and outreach that make climbing accessible and therapeutic for people living with Parkinson’s. The organization was recognized as an IRS 501(c)(3) public charity in 2023 and operates programs at commercial climbing gyms and outdoor sites.

Since formalizing as a nonprofit the group has expanded from a single gym group into a multi-gym network across the U.S., developed program materials for partner gyms, and begun fundraising for and partnering on pilot research to measure climbing’s effects on Parkinson’s symptoms.

In 2023 the organization recorded initial nonprofit-year finances while continuing to grow participation, host outdoor retreats, and support adaptive climbers — emphasizing safe exercise, social connection, and education for clinicians and caregivers.
