About Second Chance Center, Inc.

Second Chance Center (SCC) is a Colorado-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 90-0794239) founded in 2012 that delivers re-entry services, job training, supportive housing, and behavioral-health support for formerly incarcerated and justice-involved people across the Denver–Aurora area.

In recent years SCC has expanded programmatic scale and housing capacity — operating jail re-entry sites, running paid training-to-employment cohorts (e.g., urban forestry and solar), and developing permanent supportive housing projects while partnering with clinical providers to deliver on-site behavioral health and case management.

Notable achievements

Low recidivism rate

SCC reports maintaining a recidivism rate under 10% among program participants, substantially lower than regional averages, reflecting the impact of integrated housing, employment and behavioral-health supports.

Supportive housing development

Completed and operating permanent supportive housing (Providence at the Heights) and advancing a larger mixed-income supportive housing project (Residences on Acoma) to increase long-term housing capacity for clients and families.

Expanded training-to-employment programs

Scaled paid workforce pathways (examples include urban forestry and solar installation cohorts) that provide certifications, hands-on experience, and direct employer connections to move client-partners into stable jobs.
