About GRAYWOLF PRESS
Graywolf Press is an independent, nonprofit literary publisher based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, founded in 1974 and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 1984. It publishes a diverse catalogue of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry—including translated works—and runs prize programs (such as the Graywolf Nonfiction Prize and the African Fiction Prize) and fellowship/residency partnerships to develop literary careers. In recent years Graywolf has remained highly active: the press celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in 2024 with national events, published dozens of new titles (Graywolf reported publishing 29 books in 2024 and acquiring multiple new manuscripts), and continued community programs such as KidsRead/KidsWrite and donations of books to local schools.
