About AURORA SENTINEL COMMUNITY MEDIA
Aurora Sentinel Community Media (ASCM) is a nonprofit news organization that publishes The Sentinel in print and online to strengthen informed civic participation across Aurora, Colorado by producing independent, fact-based local journalism.
ASCM incorporated as a Colorado nonprofit in 2022, completed a transfer of the Aurora Sentinel publishing operations into the nonprofit structure in early 2023, and received IRS recognition as a 501(c)(3) public charity in February 2024; since then it has expanded fundraising, grant-supported reporting projects, and collaborative reporting partnerships across the state.

Nonprofit conversion and operational transfer
Completed organizational transition to a nonprofit community media corporation and transferred the Aurora Sentinel publishing operations into ASCM (completed January 2023), enabling a mission-focused governance model.
IRS 501(c)(3) recognition
