About NATIONAL NATIVE AMERICAN SUPPLIER COUNCIL

The National Native American Supplier Council (NNASC) is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded to serve as the premier certifying body for tribally and indigenous-owned businesses. NNASC issues a focused Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) certification that accounts for the unique legal and governance structures of tribal entities and Native-owned companies. Launched in 2023, NNASC has pursued rapid membership and recognition across Indian Country and the supplier-diversity community, securing tribal resolutions of support, early corporate sponsorships, and partnerships with existing supplier-certification organizations. In its first two years the organization has focused on building a credible certification process (individual Native-owned, tribally owned/EDC, and tribal EDC affiliates/subsidiaries) and educating corporate and institutional buyers about Native business structures and procurement opportunities.

Notable achievements

Creation and launch of NNASC certification

Formally launched in September 2023, NNASC established a three-category certification framework tailored to individual Native owners, tribally owned entities/EDCs, and tribal EDC affiliates, creating a pathway for Native businesses to participate in corporate and government supplier diversity programs.

Tribal endorsements and formal resolutions

Secured formal resolutions of support from multiple tribal bodies and intertribal organizations during 2023–2024, demonstrating tribal-government backing for NNASC’s mission and governance model.

Early corporate sponsorships and partnerships

Gained early support from corporate sponsors and strategic partners and established working relationships with existing minority- and veteran-owned certification groups to increase market access for certified Native suppliers.
