SOUTHERN EXPOSURE

Southern Exposure (SoEx) is a long-running, artist-centered 501(c)(3) that has supported emergent and experimental visual artists in San Francisco since its founding roots in 1974; the organization’s tax ID (EIN 93-1216297) is the same number listed on the organization’s official site and public filings. SoEx programs include a Projects & Exhibitions program, an Offsite/Public Projects program, the Alternative Exposure regranting initiative, and a multi-decade Artists in Education (AIE) youth program that partners with local schools and community organizations. In the last 2–3 years SoEx marked its 50th anniversary with a community exhibition and fundraising campaign (2024) and continued frequent public programming and artist commissions. The organization remains an active, donor-facing nonprofit with an updated online presence, ongoing grant and fundraising solicitations, and recent public communications about organizational finances and urgent community fundraising needs (2025–2026).
