About Alliance for Music Education Equity (AMEE)
The Alliance for Music Education Equity (AMEE) is a Denver-based backbone organization and collective of local music nonprofits, schools, and teaching-artist programs focused on expanding equitable access to high-quality music education across the city.
AMEE organizes member training and workshops, hosts community-facing resource fairs and a summer music festival, and partners with Denver Public Schools and cultural institutions to coordinate cross-organization strategies that remove barriers for students and educators.
AMEE became an independent 501(c)(3) organization in 2023 and continues to grow its membership and programmatic activities to advance equity, inclusion, and access in Denver music education.
Notable achievements
Became independent 501(c)(3)
Formalized as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2023, establishing organizational and fiscal capacity to expand programming and accept tax-deductible contributions.
Established annual Music Festival & Resource Fair
Launched and sustained a free community Music Festival & Resource Fair (held during summer Levitt Pavilion events) that showcases member programs and connects families and schools with music education resources.
Secured local arts funding/partnerships
Received competitive local arts support (including Denver Arts & Venues / Denver Music Advancement Fund grant funding) and formed partnerships with major local institutions and member organizations to scale events and outreach in 2022–2024.
