About FORT WORTH COMMUNITY LAND TRUST

Fort Worth Community Land Trust (FWCLT) is a donor-facing 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2023 to develop, steward, and preserve permanently attainable homeownership in Fort Worth, Texas. The organization uses the community land trust model—owning land and leasing it to homeowners—to keep homes affordable for working families and maintain neighborhood stability. FWCLT works closely with city agencies, foundations, and development partners to acquire and rehabilitate sites for mixed-income and income-targeted housing (focused on households roughly 60–80% AMI while allowing units serving up to 120% AMI). Early priorities have included the December 2023 Carroll Park acquisition and advancing stewardship, buyer education, and long-term portfolio growth through public-private partnerships.

Notable achievements

Carroll Park acquisition

In December 2023 FWCLT acquired the 15.61-acre Carroll Park property as its first major site, committing the parcel to be transformed into permanently attainable homes for Fort Worth families.

City designation as Fort Worth’s CLT

City of Fort Worth formalized the organization’s status under local ordinance (2024), enabling CLT operations inside the city and making land held for community benefit eligible for tax exemptions.

Secured philanthropic and institutional support

FWCLT has obtained seed and project support from local philanthropic partners and housing institutions and expanded partnerships with entities supporting affordable homeownership and development capacity between 2023–2026.
