About Pālehua Conservation Initiative
Pālehua Conservation Initiative (PCI) is a Hawaii-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit formed in 2023 to deliver ʻāina-based education, community stewardship, and ecological restoration in the southern Waiʻanae mountains and surrounding areas. PCI operates volunteer-driven conservation programs and hosts cultural and educational gatherings at its mauka cabins, integrating native-plant restoration with cultural practice and community learning. During the 2024 fiscal year the organization scaled programming and operations: it reported running monthly and supplemental volunteer opportunities, hosting multiple educational events, and maintaining on-site cabins for workshops and retreats. PCI completed measurable restoration and outreach activity in 2024, including several hundred volunteer participants, hundreds of native plants installed, and dozens of community events serving local residents and groups.
