RESOLUTION INC

Resolution, Inc. is a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit that does business as California Newsreel, a longstanding social-issue documentary production and distribution center based in San Francisco. The organization has operated since the late 1960s (incorporated as Resolution, Inc. in the 1970s) and focuses on films and educational media that advance racial justice, labor and global economy issues, health and society, and African and African American history and culture. California Newsreel distributes and licenses an extensive catalog of documentary films and learning resources to educators, libraries, community organizations, broadcasters and streaming platforms. In the past 2–3 years the organization has continued digital distribution through partners (Kanopy, Alexander Street/Films Media Group and Vimeo rentals), highlighted centenary and thematic programming (e.g., James Baldwin centenary programming in 2024), and maintained active curation and educational resource development for its signature titles and collections.
