About MIXED BAG PRODUCTIONS

Mixed Bag Productions is a San Francisco–based 501(c)(3) dance organization founded in 1977 that presents experimental choreography, training, and community-engaged projects led by Artistic Director Sara Shelton Mann. The organization acts as an umbrella for Mann’s choreographic work and mentoring—presenting performances, site-specific activations, workshops, and longer-term residencies—and has presented seasons at Bay Area venues such as Fort Mason Center, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, CounterPulse, ODC Theater and Z Space. In recent years Mixed Bag has remained active with public programming (notably the site-specific 7 Excavations activation at Fort Mason), international workshops and retreats, and public funding support including California Arts Council operating support in 2022–23; it files annual Form 990 returns and maintains an online presence through the artistic director’s site for program and calendar information.
