EUROPEAN STUDIES ASSOCIATION
To provide inclusive, reasonably priced, academically rigorous study-abroad and cultural programs in Europe—focused on language, art, and curated cultural experiences for college students and faculty.
About EUROPEAN STUDIES ASSOCIATION
European Studies Association (ESA) is a San Francisco–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, founded in 1978 by Dr. Tom (Tom/Thomas) Blair to offer quality, affordable study-abroad programs in Europe. ESA operates boutique, faculty-led programs—most notably an annual July Paris program—and periodic shorter cultural tours (e.g., Belgium), serving college students and faculty with options for language study, art appreciation, and curated excursions. In recent years ESA resumed in-person programming and continues to operate as a donor-eligible, program-focused nonprofit with up-to-date public tax filings and active academic partnerships with California community colleges. ESA emphasizes small-group, academically linked travel (typically ~100 participants for the Paris program) and places a strong emphasis on guided, on-site instruction and cultural immersion.
